Durability is not a promise — it is a measurable property. Martindale rubbing, flexing and ageing tests show in advance what use would only reveal months later.
Typical methods
- Martindale abrasion — rub resistance of textiles, leathers and linings to a defined cycle count;
- flexing tests — resistance of soles and upper materials to repeated flexing;
- ageing — simulating the effect of heat, humidity and time;
- colour fastness to rubbing — discolouration and wear-off in use.
What the result is good for
- objective comparison of two materials or constructions in development;
