BIMEO has served the leather and footwear industry since 1949.

After its establishment in 1949, BIMEO operated as the central quality control institute for the domestic leather and footwear industry within the Hungarian Leather Industry Research Institute. Since 1992 it has operated in its current form as BIMEO Testing and Research Ltd. BIMEO became a notified body in 2005, expanding its activities to the certification of personal protective equipment.

As an independent testing laboratory and notified body, our aim is to support companies in the leather, footwear and protective-equipment industries in matters of quality, safety and sustainability.

Through measurement and impartial assessment we contribute to higher standards in the industry, and to safe, good-quality products reaching the people who use them.
