EN ISO 374-5:2016Created as a stand-alone part in the 2016 series restructuring; its key novelty is the dedicated virus claim and the "VIRUS" marking.
At the review date EN ISO 374-5:2016 is harmonised under Regulation (EU) 2016/425 (since 21 April 2018). The EU Official Journal defines the status at any given time.
What does the standard require?
- For the bacteria-and-fungi claim: general requirements + penetration testing per EN ISO 374-2 (air and water leak)
- For the virus claim: additional testing per ISO 16604 (Phi-X174 bacteriophage, the blood-borne-pathogen model)
- Marking: biohazard pictogram; gloves also tested against viruses carry the word "VIRUS" beneath it
Classes and levels: No numbered levels — two claim tiers: bacteria + fungi, or bacteria + fungi + viruses.
Marking on the product: pictogram (+ the word VIRUS)
