Adhesion & bonding testing
A footwear manufacturer replaces a solvent-based adhesive with a water-based one. How do they know the bond will hold long-term? Bond strength is measurable — before the market tests it.
When do you need it?
- at an adhesive or process change: proving the new system's bond strength before series production;
- in delamination complaints: was it a manufacturing defect or damage in use;
- in production control: spot-check measurement of bond quality in produced lots;
- in material-pairing development: which combination gives the best adhesion.
How we measure
Sole-to-upper and interlayer bonds are measured with standard peel testing: the result is the bond strength and the failure mode — whether separation was caused by the adhesive layer, the material or the surface preparation. Repeating the measurement after ageing also verifies the bond's endurance over time.
What you receive
A test report with the measured bond strength, a description of the failure mode and — in comparative testing — the samples' evaluation against each other.
