Requirements and testing of electrostatic-dissipative protective gloves for use in explosive atmospheres.

EN 16350:2014The first electrostatic standard written specifically for gloves — previously only the EN 1149 clothing series existed, which did not cover gloves.
At the review date EN 16350:2014 is harmonised under Regulation (EU) 2016/425 (since 21 April 2018). The EU Official Journal defines the status at any given time.
What does the standard require?
- Vertical (through-glove) resistance: Rv < 1.0 × 10⁸ Ω, measured per EN 1149-2
- Fixed test climate: 23 °C and 25 % relative humidity; five specimens, every measurement below the limit
- For work in explosive (ATEX) atmospheres; the glove is one link in the earthing chain — the wearer must also be earthed
- Not a substitute for live-working insulating gloves (EN 60903), and not meant for ESD protection of electronics
Classes and levels: No classes — a single pass/fail resistance criterion.
