Glove manufacturers
Every digit on a glove's marking is the result of a measurement. A protective-glove manufacturer must hold the declared levels measurably from development to series production — otherwise the marking is a promise.
Typical situations
- a new material or coating: how do the EN 388 levels change?
- which construction is sufficient for the target level (e.g. a higher cut class)?
- does the produced series hold the values measured at type-examination?
- for leather materials: pH and chromium(VI) per the innocuousness requirements;
- planning the certification route for Category II–III gloves.

Measure first, procedure after
In the certification procedure the type sample's result decides. A manufacturer who already has measured data from development does not learn where the product stands at the notified body — there, they only get confirmation.
