Scientific Society of the Leather, Shoe and Allied Industries is a so called nonprofit
social organization, which was founded in 1930, then joined the Federal Chamber of
Technical and Scientific Societies.
The society incorporates the home experts of the leather, shoe, fur, fancy leather, and
glove industry, thus it is a vertically organized social organization. Our members are
individual and so called legal (factories, other industries, PLCs) representatives.
Our activities are:
- organizing annual professional meetings which give the experts the opportunity to meet
and exchange information;
- organizing an International Congress in every 4 years (the 12th one in
2002), which is
unique in the profession;
- our scientific review, the "Leather and Shoes Technique, -market"
(in Hungarian "Bõr- és Cipõtechnika, -piac"), which is
unique in this branch has already turned in the 54th volume;
- our society has been the member of the International Union of Leather Technologists' and
Chemists' Societies since 1958;
- since 1977 we have been sharing work of the International Union of Shoe Industry
Technicians;
- in 1990 we founded the BORCIP Foundation, which is to support the
professional intellectuals and raise the level of vocational training;
- the foundation supports writing and publishing of
technical books, text-books, annotations, moreover the training and
post-graduate training of home experts;
- giving lectures on the issues our home experts are most interested in.
We hope that our Society finds its place and role in the changing economy.
