The database contains the most important data (as well as other details where required: public data of the company, area of activity, capacity, markets, etc.) of companies manufacturing or trading with leather, footwear and leather goods and related service companies. References are also given with home-pages (where available) and some of the companies provided even photos of their products. The company data are regularly refreshed and may be supplemented at request. The database has a search function and is placed on the Internet in a Hungarian and an English version. It is also available on CD-ROM.

EXPECTED
BEHAVIOUR IN FOOTWEAR TRADING (Background information)
In June, 1999 the most important organisations from the footwear sector (Leather and Shoe Industry Association - Hungarian Shoe Traders' Association - General Inspectorate for Consumer Protection - KERMI Ltd. - BIMEO Ltd.) decided to take joint and harmonised steps to minimise the problems existing in the Hungarian leather trading, problems regarding first of all quality issues. The Hungarian Shoe Manufacturers' Association joined the initiative at a later stage.
The first step was to make an overall analysis of the current situation, with special regard to the quality problems existing in the shoe trade, the origin of these problems, their complexity and the market situation created by them. The goal was to outline the necessary steps to resolve these problems and create an action plan. Than the companies were informed about the results of this study. The overall plan and the practical duties has been published in January, 2001.
Naturally, the presented material can not resolve every problem. It is not meant to teach the reader how to manufacture, sell or value shoes. It was only created to provide an overall view on dispositions, technical specifications, expected behaviour and other information to every company or person interested in subject. To help YOU deciding what behaviour to show in your activities in comparison with the "expected" behaviour.
We believe that even the decision to study this material can help in making the situation better arranged. We hope our material will help many companies to perform their activities honestly, suiting the outlined requirements, while being not only preferred but also remunerative.
